The Atlas Coal Mine is a registered provincial historic resource and designated National Historic Site, which preserves the vast coal mining heritage of Alberta. Walk the interpretive trails around an original mine site; join an interpreter for a climb to the top of Canada's last wooden tipple; step into the now quiet wash house; enter a fully furnished miner's shack; hike up to see the old headworks and dynamite shed; walk around antique machinery; watch the award winning video "Thunder in the Valley". Displays, trails, interpretive programs and much more! Don't miss the unique souvenir collection in the Miner's Lamp Gift Shop. Washrooms, snacks and picnic area.
